Do I need Shopify Plus?
No. Checkboxes on product pages, the cart page, and the cart drawer work on every Shopify plan. Only checkout-page placement (Enterprise plan) requires Shopify Plus.
Will it work with my theme?
Checkbox Assistant supports Horizon and the latest Shopify themes, and lets you customize the checkbox style to match your store. If your theme needs an adjustment, our support team will add support — this typically takes 2–3 business days. Please note that some themes cannot be supported due to their structure.
Can I show a checkbox only for certain products or markets?
Yes. From the Starter plan, you can set display conditions by product, variant, product tag, customer tag, or market — combined with AND / OR logic. On checkout (Enterprise), conditions extend to company, shipping country, and cart total.
Can I display more than one checkbox?
Yes. The Advanced plan supports up to 10 checkboxes per placement — for example terms of service, age confirmation, and a no-return acknowledgment, each with its own text and links.
Is the customer's consent recorded?
Yes. From the Starter plan, the date and time of consent is saved with the order — giving you evidence if a dispute arises. Please note this applies to cart-based checkouts only: orders placed via the "Buy now" button or express checkout (Shop Pay, Google Pay, etc.) skip the cart, so no consent timestamp can be recorded for them. To make sure customers always agree before using express checkout, you can hide those buttons until the checkbox is ticked — note that express orders still skip the cart, so they won't carry a consent timestamp.
What languages are supported?
You can translate checkbox text into up to 2 languages on Starter and up to 20 on Advanced and Enterprise, so international stores can show the right wording per locale. The admin UI is available in English and Japanese.
